Photo Arts 3: Assignment 2: The Frame

Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, New York

I am not big on cemeteries, or photographing in cemeteries, because I think it's disrespectful to a degree, not to mention the cemetery is kind of a creepy and morbid place to hang out in and walk around. But I was at a loss for places to shoot at, and after living here for a few years, I never really had the chance to check out this historical and famous cemetery, home to some famous people, such as Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony.

The other thing with cemeteries, is that I'm always afraid that as I'm walking around, I'm walking on the graves wrong, and walking over somebody's casket, so I hate it. Especially since there are way too many movies where a hand reaches up from the grave and grabs you by the ankle! So, I have no idea what the proper etiquette is for walking around in a cemetery!

You can learn more about the history of America's first municipal cemetery by visiting the Friends Of Mount Hope website.

Very nice composition. I like the reflection coming off of the old ironwork. Good colour palate as well. I think the souls you visited were quite pleased ^^

aww, you make me feel better about the souls being pleased about the visit if it's a good photograph.

it's old ironwork, but it's been heavily lacquered...kinda ridiculous, but it helps!

Thanks for the feedback! ^.^

my grandparents used to have a wrought iron gate, and other wrought iron in their house...i kinda miss it now that they don't live there anymore...I'd always play with it or use it for my dolls and stuff (build houses around it hehe)

I love this one. A lot. The composition is really nice and the sparkle is lovely. Was that in the original, or added with some PS witchcraft?

If this is you not feeling imaginative I shall look forward to seeing the truely inspired work! :P

Very nice, the slight glare off of the one part adds a nice effect to it.
